A fun, easy and delicious cookie recipe that uses up extra candy bars
At the time of writing this, it is the very beginning of October. It, of course, has me thinking about Halloween. I love fall and everything that comes with it; which, of course, includes Halloween.
I’m sure most people are wondering right now how trick-or-treating is going to play out in 2020, due to the pandemic and all. Although personally, I don’t understand why there should be any issues with trick-or-treating since that’s a time when wearing masks is normal….
But whatever the case, depending on how many ghosts and goblins come knocking on your door, you could end up with a bunch of leftover Halloween candy.
What will you do with five bags full of Milky Ways, Snickers, Kit Kat bars, etc.. ? Well, I’ve got a solution, and it’s these Candy Bar Cookies! Truth be told, I used Snickers Baking Bits to test this recipe since it’s before Halloween, so I have yet to be stuck with piles of candy bars. But it’s smart to be thinking ahead!
I cut the Snickers Baking Bits into quarters, because I wanted them to disperse evenly amongst the cookie dough. Whatever candy bars you decide to use, just cut them up as small as you have the patience to do, and enough to make two cups full.
These cookies are monsters (pun intended)! I got 12 cookies out of this recipe. They spread a bit, but they do not turn out flat and skinny. They have just the right thickness with a soft & buttery, yet chewy, bite. The Snickers bars make them stand out from standard chocolate chip cookies, obviously.
I think this is the best use for an overflow of Halloween candy. Try these out!

Scoop big mounds of dough onto cookie sheets, six per sheet
Bake for 11-13 minutes. Makes 12 large cookies.
NOTES
I cut each Snickers Baking Bit into fourths prior to adding to the cookie dough.
Try this with whatever candy bars you’d like, although I would not recommend using non-chocolate and/or chewy or hard candies such gummy bears, Tootsie Rolls, Sweet Tarts, butterscotch discs, etc..
